I am a software developer and programming instructor with around two decades of professional experience. I started writing code when I was 12, when my parents bought an Amstrad CPC6128. How could anyone forget all those BASIC programs typed in from computer magazines...

My background spans web, desktop, mobile, and Microsoft Office development, as well as database design, reporting, and data analysis. Throughout my career, I have combined software development, technical training, requirements analysis and project coordination across a wide range of industries and technologies.

My academic background in both computer science and business helps me bridge the gap between technical and business perspectives. I enjoy translating real-world needs into practical software solutions, working closely with users, clients and development teams to deliver reliable, maintainable software.

⦿ Experience as a Software Developer

I have designed and developed applications for healthcare, manufacturing, education, human resources and business management. My work has ranged from internal tools and medium-sized ERP systems to web platforms and native or cross-platform mobile applications.

In several of these projects, I was also responsible for requirements gathering, project planning, budgeting, documentation and coordination with clients, users and development teams.

Full Stack Development

2017 – Present

  • Developed a web application using .NET, C#, PostgreSQL, SQL, React and TypeScript. The platform provides neurologists with a tool for estimating the likelihood of patients progressing to Alzheimer's disease. Project ADT
  • Developed an intranet application using .NET, C#, PostgreSQL, SQL and TypeScript. It manages commercial quotations and employee timekeeping and provides dashboards with operational KPIs. Project NTZ
  • Developed a web application using Django, Python, JavaScript, PostgreSQL and SQL, and deployed it on Heroku. The application was used to assess the programming skills of hundreds of candidates applying for IT training courses. Project UOC

Mobile Development

2013 – 2022

  • Released a cross-platform application built with Flutter and Dart to help users retain English vocabulary. Project MPC
  • Released an iOS application written in Swift to guide visitors around an animal park and help them find points of interest. Project CBR
  • Published an iOS application developed in Objective-C, using AFNetworking, Core Animation, and Core Data to support Irish students in preparing for Leaving Cert exams. Project TPD

Windows Development

2007 – 2018

  • Developed a mid-sized ERP system using .NET, Visual Basic, MySQL, Oracle, SQL, and Crystal Reports. The platform streamlines the generation and tracking of commercial quotations, calculates stainless steel prices and optimizes warehouse inventory. Project TKR
  • Created two applications using .NET, Visual Basic, MySQL, PHP and JavaScript to manage schedules for hundreds of employees at a healthcare company. Project GRV

Microsoft Office Development

2004 – 2010

  • Developed a specialized application using Access, VBA, and SQL to centralize and manage medical records for the Neurology Department at one of Spain's leading hospitals. Project BAD

⦿ Experience as a Programming Instructor

I have taught programming and software development in both vocational training and university contexts. My teaching experience includes frontend and full-stack web development, native and cross-platform mobile development, multimedia technologies and user interface prototyping.

I try to explain technical concepts rigorously without making them unnecessarily complicated. I place particular importance on understanding the fundamentals, writing clear code and connecting classroom exercises with real-world development practices.
